Youth & Family
Family Fun for Everyone!
Every Saturday Gadsden Arts offers a day of family fun! Our Free Family Saturdays have a variety of activities to do as a family: our ArtZone, a Visual Scavenger Hunt, and the Reading Corner. The ArtZone is a free studio, open 10 AM – 4:30 PM, where families can work together to create unique artworks based on our current exhibitions. Along with Aviary: International Quilting and Fiber Art, we have a special challenge within the Visual Scavenger Hunt. Take part in the Great Bird Hunt and count all the birds in the museum to win a LEGO bird prize!
Another feature of Family Saturdays is the Reading Corner! Relax in our Woodell Studio and pick out one favorite book to take home. Continue the art – adventure at home with our Art@Home Kits, including an activity guide and art supplies like watercolor paints!
This project is made possible by all Art for Children Donors. Generous support is provided by Art Bridges. Free Family Saturdays are presented by Centennial Bank, in partnership with the National Hookup of Black Women – Gadsden, and Art for Children sponsors Bell & Bates Home Center and Sunnyside Farm Management Inc.

Art for Children
Birds of a Feather Create Together
We’ve got some egg-citing updates from our Art in Schools (AIS) and Creative Futures Council (CFC) programs! Both programs have recently taken on exciting fiber art projects, inspired by our Aviary International: Quilting and Fiber Art exhibition. At Chattahoochee Elementary, students created with cardboard and yarn to make colorful, textured birds. They had a blast experimenting with shapes and textures, creating their own unique feathered friends! Meanwhile, the Creative Futures Council, working with artist Leslie Cohen, made collage birds using all sorts of materials. They explored layering and texture, bringing their birds to life in vibrant, creative ways. It’s been amazing to watch both groups spread their wings in the world of fiber art. We can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them next!
Did you know that Gadsden Arts dedicates 20% of our budget to provide these free Art for Children & Youth programs year-round? These programs are made possible in part by Gadsden Arts Art for Children Donors & Sponsors. Thank you all for bringing the magic of art to children and youth in our community!
