Artist Workshops

We’re thrilled to celebrate 30 years at Gadsden Arts! Join us for our 36th Art in Gadsden Exhibition on display from June 6 – August 30, 2024. Plus, to keep the celebration going, we will be hosting two workshops from recurring AIG exhibiting artists Eluster Richardson and Joe Roache.

  • Registration minimum: 5 participants, maximum: 16 participants 
  • Participants must bring their own materials; a materials list will be sent at least two weeks in advance of each workshop

Flowing Colors with Eluster

Eluster Richardson, a native of Tallahassee, is a highly acclaimed artist recognized at the regional level for his award-winning works. Richardson serves as Artist in Residence for the John Gilmore Riley Museum and has collaborated with the Gadsden Arts Center by publishing a book on his paintings of quilts, which is featured in the museum shop. In addition to his skill as an artist, he is esteemed for his leadership roles within organizations like the Tallahassee Watercolor Society, Southern Watercolor Society, and Gadsden Arts. Moreover, Richardson is known for his contributions working with youth groups, providing an outstanding role model and inspiration for individuals of all ages.

Vibrant Painting with Joe

Joe Roache is a versatile artist who creates oil, acrylic, and computer paintings and drawings spanning from figurative to abstract styles. Roache’s art has been exhibited extensively across the nation, including Gadsden Arts, earning a Bachelor’s degree in art from Florida A&M University and a Master of Fine Arts in Painting and Graphics from The University of Wisconsin, Madison. As a speaker in many conferences, he has enriched his artistic journey by visiting renowned museums and galleries worldwide, including destinations such as Oslo, Edinburgh, Nairobi, and Moscow.


Adults: Plan Your Playtime!

Bring your friends and family for a Grown-Up Field Trip at Gadsden Arts! Groups of 4+ will enjoy a fun and inspiring conversation about art on view and learn something new! Request an exhibition-inspired art activity as part of your art experience! Bring your own snacks and drinks, or order in lunch, and after your guided visit, relax with your group in our Bates Community Room – great for book clubs, touring groups, or family outings. FREE with the price of admission. Reservations required, contact (850) 627-5023.

Admission waivers available for groups for which admission would be a barrier to attendance.

Open Studio

Become a Gadsden Arts member to use our 2nd floor Woodell Family Art Studio for our weekly Open Studio. Paint with your peers in a self-directed, open-ended studio environment. Bringing your own supplies and projects is recommended. Limited classroom supplies available.
