Painting Florida Swamps & Wildlife with Shawn Dell Joyce

Friday, October 2, 2026, from 10am – 5pm

Join nationally recognized artist Shawn Dell Joyce for an inspiring acrylic painting workshop at Gadsden Arts, held in conjunction with our upcoming fall exhibition, America’s Everglades: Through the Lens of Clyde Butcher. An award-winning plein air painter and founder of the Wallkill River School of Art, Joyce has taught artists across the country and has been featured in The New York Times, PleinAir Magazine, and other national publications.

Participants will begin by creating value sketches and color studies to explore composition and understand how light shapes the landscape. Using acrylic paint, they’ll build on these studies to create a finished painting with depth, atmosphere, and expressive use of light and shadow. Whether you’re looking to strengthen your painting skills or explore new techniques, this workshop offers valuable instruction in a welcoming environment.
