Teachers & Schools

Gadsden Arts invites educators to engage students in curriculum topics through art. Each school tour is led by an experienced docent and explores the galleries, teaching students to examine art critically followed by a hands-on activity. Exhibitions change quarterly so we recommend reviewing the current exhibitions before scheduling a tour. If you would like to schedule a school tour, please contact our Museum Educator, Sarah Black-Sadler at 850-627-5023.

Fall 2022 Resources

This fall, Gadsden Arts is delighted to present MarvelocityConsidered one of the greatest artists in the field of comic books, Alex Ross has created some of the most iconic images known to fans today. For nearly 30 years, he has revitalized classic superheroes into works of fine art by illustrating characters such as Spider-Man, Captain America, Iron Man, Storm from the X-Men, the Avengers, Black Panther and many more. The exhibition includes the artist’s preliminary sketches, childhood drawings, life-sized head busts, and illustrated covers of comics. Marvelocity: The Art of Alex Ross was developed by the Bess Bower Dunn Museum of Lake County, Illinois.

Gadsden Arts uses inquiry-based touring techniques that encourage students to examine the meaning behind art, making connections to reading comprehension, and growing skills in critical thinking, creativity, and empathy. Download the Student Learning Guide for sample lessons, as well as information on curriculum correlates. They are aligned to Sunshine State Standards.
