All Master Artist Workshops take place in the 2nd Floor Woodell Family Art Studio. The studio contains adjustable height tables, wood stools and folding chairs, and a class set of table easels that all students may use. The 2nd floor can be accessed via the main staircase or elevator, and contains wheelchair-accessible restrooms. For questions about accommodations, please contact Education Director Anissa Ford

Out of town workshop attendees are invited to get a 10% discount at the Allison House Inn. The Allison House Inn is a Bed & Breakfast located just 2 short blocks away (within walking distance). Workshop attendees should call the Allison House Inn directly for discount, and mention that you are a workshop attendee.

Kathleen Denis: Capturing Intriguing Light

Rescheduled Workshop Date: May 30-June 1, 2019

Tuition: $350 members, $380 nonmembers

Registration Deadline: April 26

Kathleen Denis generously and thoroughly teaches the essential elements to help you create a great work of art that captures the light and intrigues the viewer. She will include applicable daily lectures, demos and personal hands on assistance.  Day one you will learn how to make creative compositions with focal points and depth, while developing and applying value studies.  Day two you will learn how to mix, choose and apply colors that captivate your viewer.  And day three you will learn how to add the finishing touches with edges and details needed to create your masterpiece! Kathleen works with various levels of students, but some painting experience is needed.  This class will be taught in oils.  Download the flyer here.

Download our workshop proposal form and submit it to our Education Director, Anissa Ford. Please note, at this time we cannot offer oil painting workshops in our studio.

 

Workshop Policies

  • Workshops are conditional upon minimum enrollment. If the workshop does not meet the minimum enrollment, students' tuition will be fully refunded. 
  • Enrollment is granted on a first-come, first-serve basis, in order of paid registration. A confirmed spot in the workshop is only available when full payment is made. 
  • Cancellation Policy: Partial refunds for cancellations within 30 days of the workshop date will be provided only in cases of illness or emergency. The partial refund will be the amount paid less direct costs per participant incurred by the Gadsden Arts Center & Museum. Cancellations prior to the 30-day deadline will incur a $30 cancellation fee.
