Foremost, I wish each painting to provide me in some manner a fresh new experience that perhaps may also provide a few insights to others. An element within a representational piece may suggest an abstract design that I will work into a subsequent painting. This rarely happens in reverse, though occasionally I discover a representational side of an abstract work that was not consciously intended.

I have been a Quincy resident since 1975, and have had a desire to be a photographer and artist since I was a teenager. I took photography classes at Lively form 2002-06 and now have a portrait studio in my home. In January of 2008 at age 50, I started oil painting. I paint every chance I get; I had never imagined how much pleasure it would give me to be able to paint, it is so relaxing and gives me much comfort and joy.

I work in web design and graphics, and paint in watercolors and acrylics. I enjoy the natural world and cringe at humankind's encroachment on the same. I like to hang out in the woods, and on local rivers , namely the Ochlockonee and Apalachicola, if for nothing else but to boat ride and simply enjoy the environment, flora, and fauna found there, and its serenity; but I often may fish, as well. Love oysters and going to the nearby Apalachicola Bay area and eating the finest ones in the world.

Membership
GAC Artists Guild membership dues are $100 per year. (Artists with GAC memberships that have been renewed within the last 6 months pay the difference).
Membership benefits include:
- Work (1-3 pieces) shown in GAC Artists Guild installations once every 6 months
- GAC receives a 30% commission on works sold (instead of 40%) in GAC Artists Guild installations (does not apply to Art In Gadsden or other major exhibitions)
- A Family Membership to the Gadsden Arts Center
- GAC Artists Guild roster listing in select issues of the GAC Quarterly News
- Quarterly educational presentations for artists, free for GAC Artists Guild members
Requirements
- This guild membership is open to all emerging to established artists in the region
- Guild members agree to lend their expertise as artists to the Center once each year, either by offering an educational presentation for the public/schools/families, by assisting with exhibition preparation, or by assisting with an exhibition opening reception.
- Membership dues and contact information must be current (this is the artist-member’s responsibility).
- Artists must furnish works for exhibition upon request, or may lose their spot in the 6-month artist exhibition rotation
- All work must be provided ready to install/hang, properly mounted or framed, with wire for hanging (no clips or sawtoothed hangers)
- All work for exhibition is accompanied by a Loan Agreement and W-9 form
- Each artist is responsible to bring/ship art work to and from GAC
