As a founding board member and past president, I've enjoyed being a part of this special place since its inception in 1994. I have participated in just about every aspect. I particularly enjoy the camaraderie of other volunteers who prepare for our annual gala every January.
The arts center along with the music theatre are the jewels of downtown Quincy, attracting visitors from neighboring communities for the cultural opportunities not usually found in small towns. The Gadsden Arts Center & Museum is a "happening place" on opening nights, and it is always a source of pride for those of us who live here.
Gadsden Arts exposes young people to a part of our world not readily available in many places and broadens their vision to the possibilities in life. The Gadsden Arts Center & Museum is also one of the few places in Quincy that people from all walks of life come together for a common purpose. It enhances the quality of life for all who live here as well as serving as a destination for visitors.
The art trip to Philadelphia was an unforgettable experience to me and I'm so grateful to Angie Barry for putting it together. She arranged special guided tours to several places "off the radar" that were fascinating, as well as our visit to the Barnes Collection before it moved from its original location. I hope to be able to participate in future trips, too.
Help us bring the magic of art to our community!
